History of RGS NPCC (Sea)
When did our story begin? Truthfully, we don't know either. The only traces of our glorious history are left buried in school archives and in the memories of our old cadets. What we do know, though, was that we won the Best Unit Award then, year in, year out, and was the top girls' unit. "No, it was not kelong, it was sheer hard work." It regularly represented in the SYF GOH contingent which was considered an honour then as only the top girls' and top boys' unit could send representatives. Something along those lines. Stories of glory fade in accuracy the longer they survive.
But somewhere in the 90's (we're guessing), we were shut down. Legend says recruitment rate for both NPCC and NCC were low and only one could make it through. Guess who lost?
The roughest storms test the strength of our anchors, indeed, for RGS NPCC was revived in 2006, as the first all-girls sea unit in Singapore. Our pioneer batch of seniors said, 'Learning about what NPCC once was sure cast some sort of ominous shadow of pressure upon us, and not being in possession of the full story of what happened has sure left us in a dust of confusion.' But we're getting there.'
After 11 years since establishment, we have grown and strengthened ourselves and are slowly, but surely re-establishing the name of RGS NPCC to make our mark. May the torch lit up by our seniors be passed on for many generations to come.
